Recipes for food that can be served at book club meetings for The Last of Mr Norris
Mr. Norris had not tasted such good hock, he told me, since his lunch with the Swedish Ambassador in Vienna last year.
We ate ham and eggs in the first-class restaurant of the Friedrichstrasse Station.
"And what did they use to give you on Sundays?" he was asking as I came in. "We got pea-soup with a sausage in it. Not so bad."
We drank a good deal of brandy and three whole bottles of Pommard.
Barely had we taken our seats when the detective entered. Without a glance in our direction, he strode over to the bar and was soon morosely consuming a boiled sausage and a glass of lemonade.
Having finished the sasuage, he ordered an Italian salad.
